Hacking for Refugees
November 15, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free
The hackathon will focus on creating apps addressing the refugee crisis. Students will hear from Divine Mahoundi, a refugee from Republic of the Congo, who arrived in the U.S. in 2016. She will share her story of resilience and her decision to be an agent for social change. Ms. Mahoundi is part of Integrated Refugees and Immigration Services’s (IRIS) Young Leaders Program.
Using Zoom, students will work in pairs with mentors to create prototype smart phone apps (using the online app block programming language, APP LAB from Code.org). We have missed seeing your faces and hope that you will join us.
