Coding for Project Blue

February 25 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free
3 hour virtual coding program for girls and boys (4-8th grade) with Code.org’s App Lab and Zoom.

Join Random Hacks of Kindness Junior and Colleen Bielitz, Ph.D., Chief Business Officer & Co-PI from Project Blue to design and code prototype smartphone apps for projects aimed at preserving the Long Island Sound.

Dr. Bieltz has been a founding member of science and technology incubators in Massachusetts and Connecticut and is a passionate advocate for promoting social good.

Project Blue is in the initial stage of creating a Blue Economy research, tech transfer and innovation hub in New Haven, Connecticut. By using the emerging Long Island Sound kelp/seaweed industry as a catalyst for subsequent Blue Economy initiatives, this project implements a transdisciplinary approach by leveraging expertise from academia, business, the government sector, and civil society.

Participants will experience first hand how they can use technology to create positive change.
